Purpose of the Blog

I am attempting to gather as much information about Strictly Tabu as possible. Much I remember; much I don't. It's a wonder I remember much at all. Strictly Tabu was, indeed, an anachronisticly remarkable place--a funky jazz joint just barely inside the latently "gated" Highland Park.

Hi Nick,

Never met you, but spent many evenings playing at Tabu from 85' to 90' approximately. I played vibes with vocalist, Jeannette Brantley.

First visited the club in 1982 during a trip out to North Texas U. Pat Coil was playing, Colin Bailey and vibraphonist... never met him and want to say his name was Fred. Sorry. Great band and it was part of my decision to come on out to NTSU.

Tabu was the greatest - the food, staff, musicians, patrons... what a place. It was with true remorse that I pulled up and found a salon in its' place. Couldn't quite believe it.

Hope people will stumble across this like I did and send in some info. I'll look for pix. Still have a red T-shirt with the Tabu logo... can't bear to part with it.

All the best, Nick. Thanks for all you did.

Recently had my memory stirred to remember many a wonderful Sunday evening spent listening to Ed Hagan & friends, dining, and winding down at this wonderful place on Lomo Alto called the ???
It was during my post college days working a food and beverage career after 1976. Actually I was struggling to call up the name of the place when it popped in to my memory - Tabu Room, so I Googled it and here I am. Thanks for the excellent times and great memories. Where to now? Any tips??? Lots of love, ddf

Nick,

I found the Strictly Tabu FB page, but I can't figure out how to post to it... I sent in a Request to Join. Do I have to wait for a response? Am I missing something? Would love to say hello to everyone.

I sang there many times with fab bands. And my hubby Bill Seitz, bassist, played there a lot too. Sorry we don't have pixs but maybe someone out there does. Every time we drive past the old club site, we reminisce. Great idea this blog. Bettye Zoller Seitz
